Lima - the capital
El Olivar
A silent, cozy and romantic place, full of life and peace, its nice olives date from the Colonial times, and from wherever you look, they form a straight line.
Restaurant la rosa nautica
This is one of Lima's loveliest restaurants set in a fabulous Victorian-style building at the end of a pier, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.Excellent seafood. Set meals are good value.Prices are reasonable. Treat yourself.
Green coast
Magnificent view of the Green Coast at night .A really a nice place to see when going to Miraflores.
Arab balconies
Arab balconies are closed balconies, also called box balconies. Made of carved wood. Most of them built during Colonial time, some during Republican times.
Water circuit promenade
Magic Water Circuit. It is a delightful tour of dancing water and lights — more than a dozen fountains send water shooting into the air, choreographed to music and light.
Huaca Pucllana
It is a large collection of ruins in the posh Miraflores district of Lima. The structures – which consists of a tiered pyramid and several large, walled rooms – were originally built sometime around the year 500 C.E.
Larcomar
It is a shopping center in Miraflores, a district of Lima. It is frequently visited by international tourists, as well as by locals from Miraflores and other parts of Lima. It is located on Avenida Jose Larco, and it is along the cliff next to the ocean.
Arequipa
The 2nd biggest city of Peru is built out of sillar (white volcanic stone).The main square is the most beautiful in Peru. The magnificent Cathedral and the shopping malls are in colonial style. Volcano El Misti overlooks the city.
Huaraz
The "Peruvian Switzerland" has several glacial lakes and snow-capped peaks, including the Huascaran (6,800 m. / 22,400 ft.). The spectacular scenery of the Huascaran National Park makes the area particularly attractive for climbers and hikers.
Cusco
Archaeologically interesting Cusco is a city riddled with contrasts between indigenous and modern western world styles. Most visitors are keen to get to Machu Picchu, either by trekking for 4 days along the Inca Trail, or by 4 hours on train.
Tacna
possessor of a moderate climate, nice people & with a strong economic flow, is located around 52 km from the Chilean border. Its attractions include Miculla Petroglyphs estimated to be 1,500 years old & its beaches which offer beautiful natural scenery.
Tarapoto
The "City of Palms", is a thriving commercial hub located in the high jungle plateau of northeastern Peru. It is the centre of terrestrial networks between eastern Peru, the mountains and the coast.
Anticuchos
It is beef heart marinated, skewered and seared over the grill. It is a very typical and popular Peruvian dish.
Aji de gallina
Chili pepper chicken.This is a shredded chicken dish in a spicy sauce flavoured with cheese, garlic, nuts and Peruvian chili peppers.Peruvians love eating this dish on cold days.
Rocoto relleno
Stuffed hot peppers. a traditional entree from the city of Arequipa, made with rocoto (chili pepper). Besides the meat, it can be stuffed with many other ingredients. It contains beef, pork, onion, garlic, margarine (or butter), cream, pecans.
Causa rellena
layered potato dish. Can be layered with any number of fillings — chicken salad and tuna salad are favourites. Served cold, it is often topped with extravagant garnishes and sauces for a colorful presentation.
Ocopa arequipena
It consists of boiled and sliced yellow potatoes covered with a sauce made of aji (chili pepper), walnuts, a Peruvian herb called "Huacatay" (that gives it a vivid green color), and fresh or white cheese, sided with lettuce, boiled eggs and olives.

Guinea Pig with spices. A whole guinea pig is marinated overnight in spices,(cumin,black pepper, paprika and dried red chillies.Red & yellow peppers are also liquidised & added to the marinade just before cooking.After marinating, the meat is barbecued and
Olluquito con charqui
It is a stew of finely diced ollucos with charqui (jerky)pieces (traditionally alpaca, or less frequently llama meat, though today it is also very commonly made from sheep), served with white rice.
Cebiche
It consists of bite-size pieces of white fish (white sea bass),marinated raw in lime juice mixed with chilis.Served with raw onions,boiled sweet potatoes,toasted corn (cancha), & sometimes a local green seawood (yuyo).
Picante a la tacnena
A stew made with cow stomach, cow feet, beef jerky, onions, and oregano.
Corvina al ajo
Corvina al Ajo, fried boneless white seabass fillet in garlic sauce with white rice on side, is a garlicky delight of tender fish and plain but satisfying rice.
Pollo a la brasa
Peruvian grilled chicken (cooked in charcoal and marinated only with salt) served with large French fries and traditionally eaten with the fingers, without cutlery.
Lomo saltado
It consists of strips of sirloin marinated in vinegar, soy sauce and spices, then stir fried with red onions, parsley and tomatoes. It is traditionally served over white rice with homemade French fries that look more like potato wedges
Mazamorra morada
Peruvian Purple Corn Pudding. a popular Peruvian dessert made from purple corn and fruit. It's thickened into a pudding-like texture with potato flour or corn starch, and spiced with cinnamon and cloves. It tastes a bit like blackberry pie filling.
Picarones
Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Doughnuts. Picarones are fried dough. They have an intriguing spicy sweet flavor, but they are crispy and warm and dripping with syrup.
Suspiro a la limena
Peruvian Caramel Meringue Parfait. The bottom layer is made of dulce de leche ( manjar blanco in Peru) enriched with egg yolks. The top is a sweet, stiff meringue made with port wine.
Tres leches
Tres leches is a sponge or butter cake soaked in a mixture of three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and cream. Tres leches is a sweet and delicious, but dense and heavy dessert more like a pudding than a cake.
Pastel de limon
The Peruvian Lemon Meringue Pie uses instead of lemons the characteristic small limes. It is a very popular and extremely sweet dessert. On top of a thin pastry a lime custard or pudding is put, covered with a thick layer of meringue and baked.
Turron de dona Pepa
A typical dessert and treat traditionally prepared for the religious festivities of Señor de Milagros in October. It consists of layers of anise cookie sticks bathed in cane syrup, called chancaca, topped with caramels and candies.
Kuelap
The fortress of Kuelap consists of massive exterior stone walls containing more than four hundred buildings. It could have been built to defend against the Huari or other hostile peoples.
Chavin
Chavín de Huántar is an archaeological site containing ruins and artifacts constructed beginning at least by 1200 BCE and occupied by later cultures until around 400-500 BCE by the Chavín, a major pre-Inca culture.
Banos del inca
hot springs, which were enjoyed by Inca Atahualpa when the Spanish Conquistadores arrived. This is a unique place, as it is rather surprising to learn of the variety of minerals contained in its waters
Caral
a spectacular archaeological site made up by big pyramids that were built about 4500 years ago.
Wilka wain
The Willkawain archaeological site near Huaraz dates from AD 700-1000. This was the second and imperial phase of the Huari empire, when Huari influence spread north from the city of the same name near Ayacucho.
Sipan
The Lord of Sipán’s tomb is the biggest discovery of un-looted ancient gold to be made in modern times. The tomb was filled with literally hundreds of priceless, pure gold artifacts.
Machu picchu
Built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls. Its three primary structures are the Intihuatana (Hitching post of the Sun), the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows.
Choquequirao
Choquequirao "Cradle of Gold" is a ruined Inca city similar in structure and architecture to Machu Picchu. The ruins are buildings and terraces at levels above and below Sunch'u Pata, the truncated hill top.
Chan chan
Constructed by the Chimor (the kingdom of the Chimú), a late intermediate period civilization which grew out of the remnants of the Moche civilization. The vast adobe city of Chan Chan was built by the Chimu around AD 850.
Sechin
Located 5 km southeast of Casma, Ancash, it is a temple complex built around 1500 B.C. Along the temple’s base, hundreds of warriors with their mutilated prisoners are carved into the granite with startling and gruesome detail.

La Diablada dance is a dramatization of the legend between good and bad, which is presided by the archangel Michael, and the Devil and his army.the Devil is accompanied by the "chinasupay" (the devil's woman)
La marinera
Marinera is a coastal dance of Peru. It is a graceful and romantic couple's dance that uses handkerchiefs as props. The dance is an elegant and stylized reenactment of a courtship, and it shows a blend of the different cultures of Peru.
Tondero
The Tondero is a Peruvian dance and rhythm born in the north coast adjacent to the eastern valleys of the Sierra or "yungas" of Piura, Sechura and Lambayeque.
Huaylas del centro
iIt is a very typical and full of energy dance. It is usually performed by bands and orquestas in Huancayo, and specially in the Mantaro's valley.
Huayno
Huayno is a genre of popular Peruvian folk music and dance. The dance consists of an agile and vigorous stamping of the feet during which the man follows the woman.
Festejo
The most important dance genre of the Afroperuvian people. It can be danced in male and female groups and solo or in pairs, too.
El Alcatraz
A frenetic dance known as El Alcatraz, women shake their hips furiously to avoid having their skirts lit on fire by men holding candles behind them.
Tijeras
scissors dance is an original dance from southern Andes, in Peru. Two or more dancers dance, followed by their respective orchestras of a violin and a harp. They dance in turns, doing explicit moves & challenging steps, such as dancing with just one foot.
La pandilla de la selva
thousands of dancers in troupes called pandillas dress up in colorful costumes and go through the streets of the city or town in the jungle of Peru, dancing with joy.

Alpamayo
It is an almost perfect pyramid of ice that composes the Santa Cruz massif, the northernmost massif of the Cordillera Blanca. Although smaller than many of its neighboring peaks, it is distinguished by its unusual formation and overwhelming beauty.
Huascaran
The highest southern summit of Huascarán is the highest point in Peru, and in all of the Earth's Tropics. It is the fourth highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere. The mountain was named after Huáscar, a 16th century Inca
Pastoruri
Pastoruri is found in the White mountain range. It reaches 5.240 meters above sea level, the summit is covered with snow, the north hillside has the glacier with the same name.
Coropuna
It is an extinct volcano in southern Peru, which is variously labeled as 6305 or 6425 meters on maps.
Huayhuash
The inaccessibility of this mountain range, has contributed to maintaining its natural beauty. At the heart of the mountain range you discover lagoons, streams, forests, wildlife and flowers of great diversity.
Huaytapallana
It is a symbol of God and a source of life for the Quechua people of the central Andes.
Salkantay
Salkantay is an outstanding snow peak, located less than fifty miles northwest of the city of Cuzco in south central Peru. It is the highest mountain of the Cordillera Vilcabamba.
Llanganuco
Beautiful turquoise lagoons, located 84 kilometers northeast of Huaraz. This magnificent natural setting is in a narrow glacial valley between the Nevados Huascaran and Huandoy.
Quistococha
Located 15 km. (9.3 miles) south of Iquitos. Tourist and amusement center. It has a regional flora forest of 369 hectares; small zoo of regional fauna and "paiches" (fish variety) hatcheries.
Azul
The Blue Lagoon (Laguna Azul) is situated around 40 kilometers from the city of Tarapoto and 16 km from the right side of the Huallaga River in the District of Sauce, in the Region of San Martin.
Paron
It is the largest lagoon in the Cordillera Blanca, located 32 km E from the city of Caraz, at 4185 masl. It's one of the most popular areas for climbing in Peru.
Choclo
72 km from the city of Huancavelica (10 minutes from the community of the same name by dirt road and 15 minutes from the town of Santa Ines by bus). An ideal place for trout fishing.
Junin
Lake Junín, known as Chinchaycocha ("Northern Lake") in Quechua, is the largest lake entirely within Peru. Located at approximately 4,082 metres (13,392 ft) asl. It is an important birdwatching destination.
Sandoval
Close to the city of Puerto Maldonado. There is a touristic hike from the river Madre de Dios to the lake. There are parrots, macaws and some other species of the rain forest. There are also Black Caimans and Giant Otters.
Titicaca
It is on the border of Peru and Bolivia. By volume of water, it is also the largest lake in South America. It is often called the highest navigable lake in the world, with a surface elevation of 3,812 m (12,507 ft)
Huacachina
Called the "oasis of America," it serves as a resort for local families from the nearby city of Ica, and increasingly as an attraction for tourists drawn by the sports of sandboarding and taking dune buggy rides on sand dunes.
Puerto Pizarro
It is a resort located in the department of Tumbes, 11 kilometers from the city of Tumbes on the Panamerican highway. The fishing village of Puerto Pizarro is the starting point for visiting the mangroves by boat.
Punta Sal
It is is a unique place located in the Northern Coast of Peru where you can enjoy the tranquility of your own exclusive space in a paradisiac private beaches.
Punta Arenas
Beautiful beach located in Talara, has a big population of sea lions.
Mancora

Pimentel
Located 10 minutes west of Chiclayo Peru, Pimentel is truly attractive to visitors. Modern architecture is mixed with the traditional, in front of a warm northern sea and old historic wharf.
Huanchaco
It is a small bay watched from the crest of a hill by an imposing colonial church. It has a fascinating and centennial wharf. Also famous by its "little reed horses" used by fishermen.
Huarmey
beautiful beach and a very nice place to camp, practice surf or just take a refreshing splash.
Tortugas
This beautiful bay is located at 18 kilometers to the north of Casma. It water is clear and calm, ideal for marine activities like swimming, fishing, diving and submarine hunting.
La Herradura
ideal for experienced surfers with classical waves all year round.
Punta Hermosa
Half an hour south of Lima , it is a big-time surfing destination with a great range of beaches and services. It is here that ”Pico Alto” the largest wave in South America, forms in May and reaches heights of up to 12 meters.
El silencio
An exceptional expanse of coarse, white sand, curving around and offering an array of fun water sports. The summer months are particularly lively, with clubs and eateries quickly filling up.
Asia
Very long beach with an agitated sea. It is a set of very similar beaches with fine summer residences. Located 60 miles south of Lima. The boulevard is very modern with all the amenities for the summer visitors.
Mendieta
25 km from Paracas and in front of Zarate island in the heart of the desert. The reserve and its beaches are reached by a paved road from Pisco (at Km 24 of the South Pan-American Highway).
Lagunillas
A beautiful beach located within the national reserve of Paracas, a few kilometres from Pisco city. Ideal to go with the family. It is a clean, crystal clear water beach.
Camana
There re are several things to do around Camana. The most obvious is go to the beach. The water is beautiful but quite cold. It's a very refreshing place to be on hot summer days.
Catarindo
Catarindo, is a narrow cove of calm waters just 2 miles north of Mollendo. Due to its proximity to the center of Mollendo, is visited in the summer season, especially for those who enjoy fishing. Ideal for boating, jet skiing, diving and spearfishing.
Ilo
The pier is a beautiful and modern boardwalk where people gather to watch the wonderful sunset and stay up late enjoying the breeze and the sound of the waves.
Pozo de lisas
Pozo de Lizas is a long sandy stretch,with no rocks and great waves. A really nice place to bask in the sun.
Boca del rio
52 kilometers (31 miles) away from Tacna, at the mouth of Río Sama. Broad, sandy beach. Good fishing. Boca del Río has all services for the tourist.
Las conchitas
Lovely, small pool-like rocky beach; very popular with traditional Tacna’s families.
Lulu’s Tody –tyrant
Also named Johnson's Tody -Flycatcher & lately Tody-Flycatcher. It is endemic to humid thickets, usually near bamboo, in the highlands of Amazonas and San Martín in northern Peru.
Hairy-crested antbird
It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. They are for the most part big-time skulkers and they live in the dark realms of the forest.
Tucan
Toucans are brightly marked and have large, often colorful bills. They make their nests in tree hollows and holes excavated by other animals such as woodpeckers.
Long-whiskered owlet
A tiny owl endemic to a small area in Amazonas and San Martín in northern Peru. It is restricted to cloud forests with dense undergrowth and epiphytes at about 1890–2200 meters (6200–7220 ft) asl. It is mainly brown with a whitish belly and eyebrow.
Junin grebe
found only on Lake Junin in the highlands of Junin, west-central Peru. breeding generally occurs in bays & channels in outer sector of the Lake, within 8-75m of reedbeds, entering reeds only for nesting or roosting.
Harpy eagle
It is the largest and most powerful raptor found in the Americas, and among the largest extant species of eagles in the world. It usually inhabits tropical lowland rainforests in the upper (emergent) canopy layer.
Royal flycatcher
The Amazonian Royal Flycatcher is found in forest and woodland eastern Peru It is easily overlooked and typically found in low densities, but overall it remains widespread and common.
Puma
also known as mountain lion, panther, or catamount, is a large cat of the family Felidae native to the Americas. In Peru is found in the Andes. It is solitary by nature and nocturnal.
Anaconda
can grow to sizes of 6 metres (20 ft) and beyond, and 150 kilograms (330 lbs.) in weight. It is the heaviest and largest in terms of diameter of all snakes, and it is the second-longest extant snake in the world behind the reticulated python.
Otorongo
also known as jaguar is a spotted cat that most closely resembles the leopard physically, although it is usually larger and of sturdier build and its behavioural and habitat characteristics are closer to those of the tiger.
Condor
The Andean Condor is the largest flying land bird in the Western Hemisphere. It inhabits the Andean mountains and it is a very large broad-winged soaring bird.
Hairless dog
It is a breed of dog with its origins in Peruvian pre-Inca cultures. The most important aspect of its appearance is its hairlessness. The dog may have short hair on top of its head, on its feet, and on the tip of its tail.
Guinea pig
originated in the Andes plays an important role in the folk culture of many Indigenous South American groups, especially as a food source, but also in folk medicine and in community religious ceremonies.
Sechura fox
also called the Peruvian desert fox or the Sechuran zorro, is a South American species of canid closely related to other South American "false" foxes or zorro, of which it is the smallest. It is found in the Sechura Desert.
Spectacled bear
also known as the Andean bear and locally as ukuko, jukumari or ucumari, the only bear native to South America and is technically the largest land carnivore on that continent, although as little as 5% of its diet is composed of meat.
Orchids
There are almost 800 species that grow only in Peru, some even at altitudes of 4,500 masl (14,760 fasl). Candy for the eyes.
